There were some really pertinent points in the Talk that I can identify with. The first, is the point about how much work I get done when I am not in the office! The second, is to cancel that meeting! I think that being able to manage staff from a distance, is the way of the future so long as there is trust and the various tasks are completed on schedule.
This style of having staff work at their own pace could be very beneficial as I also believe that the staff themselves may be more empowered to get the job done on their own terms. I think that this type of work environment may attract more women who have to juggle kids and housework as well. In fact the statistics are starting to show this is already happening anyway.

Yes I agree about a environment with no interruptions. Get so much done if isolated.

The above video provide a great insight to the way a lot of managers and staff spend their days interrupted and time sliced. Having worked flexibly for many years there are very salient points called out with strategies that do assist greatly when managing time and making offsite work very productive. Being in control to say no to meetings and finding those times when you can work and be most productive are very important.

Yes it is interesting David to say no to meetings. Only part of most meetings are relevant to each individual and a lot of time is wasted listening to information that you just don't want to know about. Meetings do need to be revised I think and only have them as required not scheduled weekly.

I thought the video was very apt in today's "office" environment. The volume of work that can be completed out of the office can be staggering. With no interruptions such as time wasting meetings to go to you can get a lot of work done. Not that I am saying meetings are not valid or important but that sometimes in business a meeting can just be an excuse to have a chat. Meetings also can very quickly go off topic which results in more time wasted.
